To My Friend
Mae Greene
Dear Mae,
This flower reminds me of you,
It’s as beautiful, musical, and as vibrant as you.
At first glance it’s very modest, elegant and meek,
But if you look a little closer you’ll find this flower is unique.
The white satiny petals look like smooth ivory,
The black petals remind me of black piano keys,
As I look at it, I’m reminded of the melodies I’ve heard you play,
Melodies that will remain in my heart and will never fade away.
This flower represents a part of life that can’t be spoken,
Like a tear never shed,
Or a heart never broken.
I hope the joy you feel today will remain frozen in time,
You are the flower God has given to let your light shine,
Keep playing your beautiful hymns and wonderful melodies,
Even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
